Crafting a Warm Cinnamon Sugar Scrub to Pamper Your Skin This Winter

It’s time to refresh your skin from the summer damage and prepare it for cooler weather.

Ingredients:
– 1/2 cup brown sugar (or turbinado sugar)
– 1/2 cup organic coconut oil
– 2-3 drops of cinnamon essential oil

Benefits of Sugar & Cinnamon for Your Skin:
Sugar is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment into your skin, keeping it hydrated. It’s also a natural source of glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that penetrates the skin and breaks down the bonds between skin cells, promoting cell turnover and making your skin look fresher and younger. Plus, sugar is a great exfoliant, helping to remove dead skin cells and reveal glowing, healthy skin underneath.

Coconut oil is beneficial for the skin, but cinnamon is also fantastic. Besides smelling great, cinnamon has antiseptic and antifungal properties that make it perfect for treating acne, ringworm, eczema, and other skin infections. It also stimulates blood vessels, bringing blood to the surface of the skin for a plumper appearance.

Step 1:
Make sure the coconut oil is at room temperature for easier mixing. Add 2-3 drops of cinnamon essential oil to the coconut oil and mix thoroughly. If you don’t have cinnamon essential oil, you can use cinnamon powder, but it won’t be as effective since essential oils are more concentrated.

Step 2:
Add the brown sugar to the coconut oil and cinnamon mixture.

Step 3:
Mix thoroughly. You might have small clumps of coconut oil, but they’ll melt when you apply the scrub to your skin.

How to Use:
Rub the scrub in your palms to warm it up a bit. Apply it to your face and body in gentle circular motions, avoiding the eye area. A word of caution: if you’re using this in the shower or tub, the surfaces will become slippery. Be sure to wash them down with soap afterward to avoid any falls.
