Beard oil is essential for moisturizing facial hair and the skin beneath it. If you’re trying to grow and maintain healthy facial hair, beard oil is a must-have. It can turn a dull beard into something truly impressive.
Beard oil not only cleanses and moisturizes but also helps balance your body’s natural oils. This results in soft, healthy skin and hair. Plus, the oil works wonders on the dry ends of your head hair too.
How to Make a Moisturizing & Growth Stimulating Beard Oil
Here’s a simple guide to creating your own beard oil.
Supplies:
– Sweet Almond Oil
– Argan Oil
– Sweet Orange Essential Oil
– Spearmint Essential Oil
– Tea Tree Essential Oil
– Glass bowl
– Measuring spoons
– 1-ounce Amber Glass Bottle with Dropper
Carrier Oils:
Good beard oil usually has two main components: a carrier oil and an essential oil. For my husband, I chose Argan oil and sweet almond oil.
Argan oil is non-greasy and quickly absorbs into the skin. It’s high in fatty acids, which help balance the skin’s natural oils, and it’s rich in Vitamin E, promoting hair growth and repairing split ends.
Sweet almond oil is light and hypoallergenic, making it gentle on the skin. It softens and conditions both hair and skin and helps protect each hair shaft, preventing split ends. It’s rich in magnesium, zinc, and calcium.
Mix equal parts of almond oil and argan oil.
Add 25-35 drops of essential oil for fragrance, using any blend you like. I chose a mix of peppermint, sweet orange, and tea tree oils, going light on the tea tree due to its strong scent.
Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, ideal for those prone to acne or ingrown hairs. Peppermint oil provides a stimulating sensation and can boost hair growth. Sweet orange oil is also antiseptic and anti-inflammatory and helps the skin absorb vitamin C, promotes collagen production, and improves blood flow. The combination of these oils smells fantastic.
Place the mixture into an amber glass bottle with a dropper and gently swirl to combine.
How to Use:
For the best results, apply beard oil to a freshly washed, towel-dried beard. Drop 3-5 drops into one hand; longer beards may need more, but only increase by one drop at a time since a little goes a long way. Rub your hands together and massage the oil into your beard, reaching the skin underneath.
