Getting rid of those annoying blackheads can be quite a challenge. A great way to remove them safely is by using a pore strip. Making your own pore strips at home is easy and much cheaper than buying pre-made ones. It takes less than five minutes and the results are fantastic.
Ingredients
– 1 packet of gelatin (about 1 tablespoon)
– 1 tablespoon of milk
– 1 sheet of toilet paper
– 2-3 drops of tea tree oil
– Flat makeup brush
– Small microwave-safe bowl
Notes on Ingredients
I tried using agar powder and almond milk, but the mixture didn’t turn out right. The agar powder made it too coarse and not sticky enough to pull out blackheads. Adding more milk and heating it didn’t help either. You can use water instead of milk, but milk’s lactic acid is great for your skin. It gently exfoliates while the gelatin pulls out the gunk from your pores.
How to Make Your Pore Strips
1. Mix one packet (or tablespoon) of unflavored gelatin with one tablespoon of milk in a small microwave-safe bowl.
2. Microwave the mixture on high for 7-10 seconds until it bubbles slightly. Stir until it becomes thick and glue-like.
3. Add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil if you like, and mix well. Tea tree oil is great for treating blemishes.
To Use
1. Peel a layer from your toilet paper if it’s 2-ply and cut it in half.
2. Wash your face with warm water and mild soap, then towel dry.
3. Use the flat makeup brush to apply a generous layer of the gelatin mixture to your nose or chin.
4. Press the half sheet of one-ply toilet paper onto the area and press firmly.
5. Apply another layer of the gelatin mixture on top of the paper and let it dry until it hardens.
6. Once dry, peel off the paper. Use a warm towel to remove any leftover bits of paper or gelatin from your skin.
And there you have it! Quick and easy homemade pore strips that work wonders.
