We’ve all dealt with sun damage, aging, or old acne scars at some point. The great thing about our skin is its ability to regenerate, although it’s a slow process. To speed it up, you can use the power of vitamin C.
Buying commercial Vitamin C serums can be expensive, but the good news is you can easily make your own at home with a few simple ingredients from the grocery store.
Benefits of Vitamin C Serum
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy skin. It helps repair and renew skin cells, keeping your skin looking youthful and healthy. It also stimulates collagen production, which firms and tightens the skin. Additionally, Vitamin C fights free radicals, helping to reduce acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and sun spots.
If you have sensitive skin, start with a lower concentration of the serum to avoid irritation. Gradually increase the concentration as your skin adjusts.
Ingredients You Will Need
– Dark-colored bottle with dropper
– 1 tsp Natural Vitamin C powder (or crushed Vitamin C tablets)
– 1 tsp filtered water (or rose water for a pleasant scent)
– 1-2 tbsp Aloe Vera gel (or vegetable glycerin)
– ¼ tsp Vitamin E oil or 3 Vitamin E oil pills
Method
1. Add 1 tsp of Vitamin C powder to a bowl.
2. Mix in the teaspoon of filtered water until the powder is completely dissolved.
3. If using Vitamin E pills, puncture them and squeeze the oil into the bowl.
4. Add the Aloe Vera gel and mix until smooth. The serum should be slightly thick. If it’s too thin, add more Aloe Vera gel.
5. Pour the serum into a dark-colored jar. Vitamin C oxidizes when exposed to light, so store it in the refrigerator and make small batches, enough for about a week.
How To Use
At night, wash your face, apply toner, and then a small amount of serum. Shake the serum bottle gently before each use and rub the serum in with your fingertips. Finish with a moisturizer. Avoid using Vitamin C serum during the day as it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun.
