As the weather warms up, it’s time to break out the flip flops. If you’re like me, you’ve been eagerly waiting all winter to let your feet breathe. However, your feet might need some tender loving care before you show them off.
I love walking barefoot or wearing sandals as much as possible, but exposing your feet means you’ll need to exfoliate them more often. Here’s an easy DIY foot scrub that will help you remove dry skin and leave your feet feeling refreshed.
Peppermint is great for improving blood circulation and has antifungal properties. Peppermint oil contains menthol, which creates a cooling sensation, nourishes dull skin, and improves the texture of oily or greasy skin. Its antifungal properties can also help ward off nail fungus.
Supplies:
– ½ cup Epsom salt
– ½ cup sugar
– ½ cup melted coconut oil
– ¼ cup dried peppermint leaves (optional)
– 8-10 drops peppermint essential oil
– Glass jar
Instructions:
1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
Combine the Epsom salt, sugar, and dried peppermint leaves in the glass jar. Mix well to ensure the ingredients are evenly distributed.
2. Add Essential Oil:
Add 8-10 drops of peppermint essential oil to the melted coconut oil. You can add more if desired, but be cautious as peppermint oil is quite strong.
3. Add the Melted Coconut Oil:
Slowly pour the melted coconut oil into the jar with the dry ingredients.
4. Mix:
Thoroughly mix everything until it is evenly distributed.
How to Use:
Start by soaking your feet in a warm basin of water for 10-15 minutes. Use a nail brush to clean around your toenails and to remove dirt from cracks in dry skin on your heels. Follow up with a pumice stone to help remove more dry skin. Use a generous handful of the peppermint scrub and rub it all over your feet; you’ll immediately feel the tingle! Rinse with warm water. Be careful as the residual coconut oil can make your feet slippery. Towel dry and follow up with a Peppermint Heel Cream.
Treat your feet to a weekly spa treatment to keep them happy and healthy.
