It’s warm outside, and it’s time to break out the flip flops. If you’re like me, you’ve been eagerly waiting all winter to ditch the socks and shoes. The only catch is that your feet might need some TLC before you show them off to the world.
I love walking barefoot or in sandals as often as possible. The downside is that exposing your feet means you’ll need to exfoliate them more frequently. Here’s an easy DIY foot scrub that will help you get rid of dry skin and give your feet a refreshing tingle.
Peppermint is great for improving blood circulation and has anti-fungal properties. Peppermint oil contains menthol, which creates a cooling sensation, nourishes dull skin, and improves the texture of oily or greasy skin. Its anti-fungal properties can also help prevent nail fungus.
Supplies:
– ½ cup Epsom salt
– ½ cup sugar
– ½ cup melted coconut oil
– ¼ cup dried peppermint leaves (optional)
– 8-10 drops peppermint essential oil
– Glass jar
Instructions:
1. Mix Dry Ingredients: Combine the Epsom salts, sugar, and dried peppermint leaves in the glass jar. Mix well so the ingredients are evenly distributed.
2. Add Essential Oil: Add 8-10 drops of peppermint essential oil to the melted coconut oil. You can add more if you like, but don’t overdo it—peppermint oil is strong!
3. Add the Melted Coconut Oil: Slowly pour the melted coconut oil into the jar with the dry ingredients.
4. Mix: Stir thoroughly until everything is well combined.
How to Use:
1. Soak your feet in a warm basin of water for 10-15 minutes.
2. Use a nail brush to clean around your toenails and remove dirt from any cracks in your heels.
3. Follow up with a pumice stone to help remove more dry skin from your heels.
4. Take a generous handful of the peppermint scrub and rub it all over your feet. You’ll feel the tingle immediately!
5. Rinse off with warm water. Be cautious when stepping out, as the coconut oil will make your feet slippery.
6. Towel dry your feet and follow up with a peppermint heel cream.
Treat your feet to a weekly spa treatment to keep them happy and healthy.
