The Cleaning Power of Lemon & Vinegar
Commercial dusting sprays might smell citrusy, but they often contain a lot of chemicals. Instead of using those, try this cheaper and healthier alternative. This spray uses vinegar to cut through grime, while lemon and castile soap disinfect and clean. Lemon and orange essential oils add extra cleaning and disinfectant power. Sandalwood is optional—I just like its smell and how it balances the citrus scents. If you don’t have lemon thyme, you can use any lemon-scented herb like lemon balm, lemon verbena, or lemongrass (which you can find in Asian grocery stores).
You’ll need to infuse the herbs in vinegar for a couple of weeks—the longer, the better. Make extra so you always have some ready.
How to Make Lemon Fresh Herbal Dusting Spray

– Glass bottle with spray
– Glass jar
Instructions:
1. Pack the glass jar with fresh thyme and lemon zest.
2. Pour enough apple cider vinegar into the jar to cover the thyme and lemon. Cover and place in a cool, dry place for at least two weeks.
3. After two weeks, strain the mixture.
4. Add a few drops of each essential oil to the vinegar mixture.
5. Add about 1 tablespoon of castile soap and mix.
6. Pour into a spray bottle.
Now you’re ready to start dusting! This cleaner can be used on almost any surface. If you’re worried, test a small, hidden area first.
