Creating an Ultra-Nourishing Coconut Oil Hair Treatment

You don’t need to spend a fortune on fancy conditioners and hair treatments. The solution for dry hair might already be in your kitchen. This easy hair mask uses just three ingredients: coconut oil, honey, and apple cider vinegar. Both coconut oil and honey are known for their moisturizing and restorative properties.

Coconut oil is fantastic for hair. It improves scalp health, supports hair growth, and adds volume and shine. Honey is a powerful humectant, which means it draws moisture from the air—perfect for hair that’s dry from using flat irons or blow dryers, or if you have a dry scalp. Apple cider vinegar helps remove residue from your hair and acts as a natural detangler. If you want a natural way to soften your hair or repair styling damage, this coconut oil hair mask is the answer!

Here’s what you’ll need:
– 2 tablespoons of Organic Coconut Oil
– 1 tablespoon of Local Honey
– 1 tablespoon of Raw Apple Cider Vinegar

These amounts can be adjusted based on the length and thickness of your hair. For my thick hair, this quantity was more than enough to cover from roots to tips.

Step 1:
Melt the coconut oil until it’s liquid. Add the honey to the melted coconut oil. If your home is cool, you might need to warm the honey in the microwave for a few seconds. Then, add the apple cider vinegar.

Step 2:
Mix the ingredients well. If they separate a bit, that’s okay. Just give it a swirl or two as you apply it to ensure you’re getting an even amount of each ingredient.

Step 3:
The best way to apply the mask is with a hair coloring brush or a natural pastry brush. Divide your hair into four equal parts, then section it into half-inch sections. Start applying the mask at the roots and work your way to the tips. Once a section is done, massage your hair with your fingertips to really work it in. Pile your hair into a bun and let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then wash with a mild, natural shampoo. I didn’t need any additional conditioner.

If your hair is very dry, leave the mask on longer. For even better results, wrap your hair in a towel or use a shower cap and leave the mask on for an hour or more, then rinse and style as usual.

Next time your hair feels dull or dry, head to your kitchen and whip up this simple coconut oil hair mask.
