I still get pimples from time to time. Surprisingly, I get more now than I did as a teenager. Hormones, stress, and diet can really affect breakouts. Managing these areas can help reduce acne. But if you occasionally get a pimple, this homemade acne spray can help you get rid of it without any chemicals.
Ingredients:
– 1 green tea bag
– 3 sprigs of fresh peppermint (or a peppermint tea bag)
– 3 drops of tea tree oil
– 1 cup of boiling water
– Tea kettle
– Ceramic cup
– Spray bottle
Notes on Ingredients:
Green tea, popular in the Far East for its medicinal purposes, treats various ailments from headaches to depression. It’s rich in antioxidants, enzymes, amino acids, phytochemicals, B vitamins, folate, manganese, potassium, magnesium, and caffeine. Green tea also improves your skin complexion. Its anti-inflammatory properties are especially beneficial if you have acne. It helps remove skin toxins, heals blemishes and scars, and improves skin elasticity.
Peppermint is well-known for soothing upset stomachs, but it can also combat pimples! It controls excess oil secretion and prevents pores from clogging. Additionally, peppermint brightens your skin and leaves a fresh, tingling sensation.
Tea tree oil possesses strong healing properties, being both antiviral and antifungal. It treats a variety of skin issues including ringworm, dandruff, cuts, scrapes, and acne. Be cautious with tea tree oil; it’s potent, and using too much can dry out your skin.
Preparation:
1. Steep the Tea:
– Boil a cup of water.
– Add the green tea bag and fresh peppermint leaves to the teapot.
– Let it brew for 5 minutes.
2. Strain and Cool:
– Once brewed, strain the tea and let it cool completely.
3. Add Tea Tree Oil:
– Add three drops of tea tree oil to the cooled tea. Don’t use too much since tea tree oil is very strong.
Application:
– Pour the tea into a spray bottle. Using a spray or mister is the easiest way to apply it to your face and other body parts.
– Alternatively, you can pour the tea into a glass bottle and use a cotton ball to apply it to your face.
– Gently cleanse the affected area with a mild, natural soap. Follow up with the Green Tea and Peppermint Spray.
– Let your skin air dry, then use a light, oil-free moisturizer.
– Use this spray daily as needed.
