DIY Natural

For most hair types, washing it every day isn’t necessary. In fact, using harsh, commercial shampoos daily can strip your hair of its natural oils, making it drier and more prone to breakage. Your hair needs these natural oils to keep both your scalp and hair moisturized. Instead of washing your hair every day, consider using a dry shampoo.

Why Use Dry Shampoo?
Dry shampoo works by applying an oil-absorbing substance, like arrowroot, to the oily parts of your hair to soak up the excess oil. This is perfect if you don’t have time to wash your hair. Dry shampoos are also great for styling, especially for very fine hair that doesn’t hold a style well without hairsprays and gels. You can use arrowroot or cornstarch on its own by applying it with a makeup brush, then combing it through your hair and styling as usual. A wet/dry shampoo works similarly but is easier to apply, less messy, and simple to make.

Ingredients:
– 1 cup warm water
– 1/4 cup arrowroot
– 1/4 cup witch hazel
– Essential oil (optional)
– Spray bottle

Instructions:
1. Add the quarter cup of arrowroot powder to the warm water.
2. Stir until the arrowroot is completely dissolved, ensuring there are no clumps.
3. Add the 1/4 cup of witch hazel to the mixture. This helps it dry faster once applied to your hair.
4. Add a few drops of essential oils if you like. These are mainly for fragrance, but some essential oils can help with specific hair issues. For example, rosemary can stimulate hair growth, tea tree oil can help with dandruff, and lemon oil can assist with an oily scalp.
5. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle for easy application.

How to Use Wet/Dry Shampoo:
Shake the spray bottle before each use. Spray the mixture on the roots or oily parts of your hair. Let it dry, then style as usual.
